The lifetime of your Lumeta license starts when you activate the system––the first time you log in after the license is applied. Lumeta will issue an alert notification in advance of any system use that conflicts with your license agreement. The warning may indicate that your system is approaching a limit in terms of the number of licensed active IPs or Scouts allowed on your  system. Or it may indicate that the term of your license agreement is approaching expiration (at 90% of lifetime) and must be renewed. These warnings will not diminish the functionality of your system, but they will become more frequent as licensing limits approach.

If you see a licensing warning while using Lumeta, please contact us.

After a courtesy grace period, an expired license enforces constraints, all of which can be eliminated by renewing your license with Lumeta. Specifically, you will not be able to perform the following:

  • Use the Lumeta CLI, except to import a license file.
  • Use the Lumeta browser interface, except to import a license file

If you find that you cannot use the system after login, you've waited too long. Call us promptly to expedite a license update.

Procuring a New License

Once a Lumeta system has been deployed and initialized in your workplace, begin the license-activation process. This process involves providing your system identifier to Lumeta Support, importing the license key they return to you, and activating your license via the Lumeta CLI or Lumeta browser interface.

Here's the procedure in detail:

  1. Browse Admin or Settings > Lumeta Systems > System to display the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) of your Lumeta system.

  2. Copy-paste this UUID to an email message and send it to one of our support teams:
    1. If you have instantiated Lumeta via Amazon Web Marketplace (AWM), contact sales@lumeta.com to begin the license fulfillment process.
    2. Otherwise, send your UUID to support@lumeta.com. In response, Lumeta Support will send you a message containing your license key file (or place the file in your account folder)app.
  3. Put the license file you receive from Lumeta in a location that can be accessed via SSH.

License Activation

The certificate Lumeta command in the Lumeta CLI enables you to install a license or find out the activation date of your current license. You can also install a license via a browser interface.

Following are procedures for CLI- and browser-based installations.

License Installation via the CLI

Ensure that your Lumeta license file has been saved to a computer running an SSH daemon before beginning this procedure.

  1.  Log in Lumeta CLI.

  2. Type certificate Lumeta install<loginname@IPaddress:/directory/license_filename> at the command prompt and press Enter (e.g, certificate Lumeta install junebug@192.168.1.100:/users/junebug/Downloads/license.p12.)

  3. The license installs and you are returned to the command prompt.

The CLI session is no longer valid.  If you would like to continue working in the CLI, log in again.

  4. Congratulations! You are now a licensed user of Lumeta

License Installation via a Web Browser

To install a new license over a valid old license already on the system, do the following:

  1. Browse to SettingsLumeta Systems > License and click Install/Update Lumeta License.
  2. Click Select License File and browse to your locally stored license key file.
  3. Select the license key file and click Submit.

  4. Congratulations! You are now a licensed user of Lumeta.
You are ready to authenticate. See Log In via CLI, VMware, Console, or SSH for more.
