A custom attribute is one you define. It labels a CIDR or device. Custom attributes are useful because they enable you to group map nodes according to any characteristic you've assigned.
Before bundling or highlighting map nodes by custom attribute, first confirm that your zone-of-interest has custom attributes associated with it.
- On the Maps menu, browse to a zone-of-interest such as "3_Collectors."
- Click Group.
- Are custom attribute groups listed at the bottom of the menu?
- If not, go to Adding & Managing Labels & Custom Attributes to learn how to add attributes to your map nodes.
- If so, continue to either Grouping by Custom Attribute or Highlighting by Custom Attribute
Grouping by Custom Attribute
To Group by custom attribute:
- In Maps, select a zone.
- Click Group.
- On the Group menu, notice that your custom attributes have been added to the bottom of the list.
- Click any attribute to display it on the map. In this example, the attribute Berries was selected.
The map regroups based on your selected custom attribute.
Highlighting by Custom Attribute
To highlight by custom attribute:
- Click Highlight > Custom Attributes.
- In the panel on the right, make sure the Highlight defaults are selected:
- In the Custom Attribute field, select one custom attribute category such as Berries. The number of devices (at the current level of expansion) having each attribute displays on the right.

To display more detail, "ungroup" all (i.e., Group > Expand all Attached Hosts). 
To see all members sharing an attribute type, ungroup one (i.e., right-click a node, select Ungroup). 
To highlight the nodes having an attribute of interest, clear the checkboxes of attributes you don't want to see on the map. 
To change the color of an attribute, use the color picker. If two attributes have the same value (e.g., the attributes "Edible" and "Berries" may both have the values "Currant"), then you can distinguish the two by assigning them different colors to them.
