This tool enables you to test the availability of a network host. It is especially useful to validate that the Asset Manager system has visibility into your network using its default protocol, ICMP. You can ping a Scout or any network host to see if it is available.

To ping, input the IP address of a known device in the network you want to reach. If the device can be reached, this page will display information about the transmission such as the number of packets transmitted, the number of packets received, the percentage of packet loss, and the time it took for the transmission to take place.

To test the availability of a network host . . .

  1. Browse to Settings > Support Tools > Ping Test.
  2. Input the IP address of a known device in a network you want to test reaching.


  3.  If the device is reached, you'll receive information about the transmission like this:
